Hello Democrats!
My name is Andrew Monarch, and last week I was unanimously elected as the new Chair of the Shelby County Democratic Party. With the full support of our former chair, State & County executive committee - I’m incredibly excited to bring some fresh new energy into the party and I am absolutely honored to serve the community I’ve called home for most of my life.
For too long, the word “Democrat” has felt taboo in small towns all across the Commonwealth, including ours, and we’re overdue to change that. We all know there’s folks out there who benefit from keeping us divided— and they fight for that division daily; but I believe you're getting this email right now because you know better.
You know when we show up for each other, connect, organize, and engage, we can hold leaders accountable and elect candidates dedicated to putting the community they serve over some national partisan agenda or profit. Freshly reorganized and with renewed support from the region, we’re ready to get started.
A Little About Me
First thing you should know is that this section is absolute torture for me to write. I would much rather brag about my brilliant wife of 10 years, Stacey, or have our incredible daughter tell you about the chaos of living with an oversized puppy and an instigating cat.
Family, friends and community are everything to me, and I’m genuinely grateful for the opportunity to do my part in building a better future for them. I graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Political Science in 2013 and now, at 34 years old, I work as the U.S. Director of Aftermarket for a manufacturing company in the aviation industry.
When I’m not working or volunteering for a campaign, I’m busy fixing up our house, helping out one of my siblings with whatever an eldest brother can do, or humbling my neighbors in fantasy football—except for Craig; his team ain’t that bad this year.
Why The Change in Leadership
Straight to it - our party hasn’t been as active as we know it can be, and it takes every one of us to make a change. So moving forward our focus is simple: engage, listen and mobilize on the issues impacting Shelby County the most.
Issues like the recent petition to cut school funding or the fact we’re facing the very real possibility our only hospital closes their doors. Just like the price tags at Kroger, things aren’t trending in the right direction—and I’m asking for everyone’s help in getting us back on track.
How You Can Help
-
Volunteer — Canvassing, organizing, phone banking & networking—every skill is valuable and we want to hear from you! You can either respond to this email, visit our website or reach out to me directly at Andrew.Monarch@ShelbyKYDems.com to learn more.
-
Donate — Strong outreach takes resources, and every contribution helps tremendously. $10 a month helps us reach 250 previously uncontacted voters. In a town our size, that can make a huge impact. Please consider chipping in a monthly one time or monthly recurring donation HERE
-
Run For Office!!!— If you or anyone you know is interested in running, we'll make sure they receive the tools, strategic knowledge and support necessary to win. It's our core duty to help get you elected and you won’t be going at it alone. Deadline for filing is Jan. 9th. So please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly.
We’ll be hosting a kickoff meeting in January to reconnect and share our path forward. Details are around the corner and we hope to see you there. If you’d like to get a jump on things, our next meeting is at the Stratton Center on Tuesday, December 16th. Doors will open at 7:15 pm and we encourage anyone to attend.
In the meantime, I’d love to meet you—over coffee, a drink, at our kickoff event, whatever suits YOU best. What's important is that we are in this together. Please, come join us and show support for the next generation of the Shelby County Democratic party!
